Characterization Lab Engineer
(Seremban)
The Characterization Engineer is responsible for the testing and evaluation of discrete and simple analog semiconductor devices.
Testing will be performed on automated testers (ATEs), custom, “rack and stack” computer controlled systems, and bench setups. Design and modification of the test systems and fixturing is required as well as creating and modifying software for the test systems.
The Characterization Lab is a fast paced, high volume test evaluation environment. There is significant interaction with colleagues and customers (both internal and external). Engineers receive inputs and requests from various engineering organizations and perform the following:
- Design test setups and fixturing required for the devices.
- Set up the appropriate test equipment or station to test the devices including writing software to control the test setup.
- Program various kinds of ATE equipment to perform device evaluation.
- Test devices and verify the quality and accuracy of the data.
- Supervise technicians performing various tasks assigned.
Requirements:
- Solid understanding of digital and analog electronics with in-depth understanding of small signal transistors.
- Thorough understanding of discrete semiconductor parameters such as rds(on), hfe, ftau, switching speed, leakage currents, surge capability, di/dt, dv/dt, ESD and Latchup, etc.
- Competent with the use of standard electronic test equipment: multimeters, oscilloscopes, curve tracers, pulse generators, etc.
- Capable of component level troubleshooting of all test system failures.
- Experience in testing of small signal transistors.
- Good communication skills.
Education:
BEng or BSc in engineering, physics, or equivalent – BSEE preferred.
